Trump Tower at 725 Fifth Avenue features one of the most well-known Privately Owned Public Spaces in New York City: a six-story pink marble atrium on Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets.
The building's atrium, with its cascading waterfall, brass and marble finishes, and luxury retail shops, was designed to project opulence when the tower was completed in 1983. The space became one of the most visited indoor POPS in the city.
The building gained unprecedented attention when its owner, Donald Trump, was elected the 45th President of the United States in 2016. During the transition period, the atrium and the surrounding sidewalks became the site of intense security, media coverage, and public demonstrations.
