Playground For All Children

The Playground For All Children is a 1.5-acre fully accessible playground within Flushing Meadows Corona Park, specifically designed to be usable by children of all abilities including those with physical, sensory, and developmental disabilities. The playground was one of the first universally accessible play spaces in New York City.

The playground's design incorporates wheelchair-accessible ramps, sensory play elements, tactile surfaces, adaptive swings, and equipment that allows children with mobility limitations to participate in play activities alongside their peers. The goal is inclusive play where children of all abilities can interact together.

The facility represents a significant evolution in playground design philosophy, moving from the concept of separate 'handicapped accessible' equipment to fully integrated play environments where accessibility is built into every element rather than treated as an afterthought.
