835 Sixth Avenue is a Privately Owned Public Space on the Avenue of the Americas in the Chelsea / NoMad area, providing outdoor seating south of the Midtown corporate corridor.

Sixth Avenue south of 34th Street has a more eclectic commercial character than the corporate towers of Midtown. The avenue passes through the Flower District (concentrated around 28th Street), where wholesale florists have operated since the early 20th century.

The Flower District, while much diminished from its peak, remains one of Manhattan's most distinctive commercial micro-neighborhoods. The early-morning flower market, when wholesalers supply the city's florists, restaurants, and event planners, is one of the last vestiges of Manhattan's wholesale commerce.

The POPS serves the Chelsea and NoMad communities on an avenue where the commercial character changes block by block, from flowers to fashion to finance as one moves northward.

This seating area provides outdoor space near one of Manhattan's last surviving wholesale market districts.
