Olympic Tower at 641 Fifth Avenue is a Privately Owned Public Space on Fifth Avenue across from St. Patrick's Cathedral, featuring an indoor atrium and through-block passage between Fifth and Madison Avenues.
Olympic Tower, developed by Aristotle Onassis' Olympic Airways and completed in 1976, is a mixed-use building combining luxury condominiums with retail and office space. The building's Fifth Avenue location, directly opposite St. Patrick's Cathedral, is one of the most prestigious in the city.
The through-block atrium provides a pedestrian connection between Fifth and Madison Avenues, one of the most useful indoor shortcuts in Midtown. The passage allows pedestrians to avoid the crushing sidewalk congestion on Fifth Avenue during peak hours.
