Juniper Valley Park

Juniper Valley Park is a 55.2-acre park in the Middle Village section of central Queens, one of the largest and most heavily used parks in the borough's interior neighborhoods. The park stretches along Juniper Boulevard from 71st to 80th Streets, providing a green corridor through a densely residential area.

The park was created in the 1930s on land that had been a swampy lowland unfit for building construction. Robert Moses' park-building program transformed the wetland into a formal recreation park with athletic facilities, a track, and landscaped green areas that have served the Middle Village community for nearly a century.

Juniper Valley Park features an Olympic-quality running track, baseball and softball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, a large playground, a dog run, and a bocce court that reflects the neighborhood's Italian-American heritage. The park also includes a veterans memorial and a community garden.

Middle Village is a tightly knit residential community of row houses and small apartment buildings with a strong sense of neighborhood identity. The park is the community's primary gathering place, hosting youth sports leagues, holiday celebrations, and community events throughout the year.
