Rockaway Community Park is a 255.4-acre park in the Rockaway Beach section of the Rockaway Peninsula, providing athletic facilities and green space for the peninsula's year-round residential community. The park's inland location, between Beach Channel Drive and the ocean blocks, gives it a different character from the beachfront parks.

The park features baseball and softball diamonds, soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a playground, and open green areas. The athletic facilities serve organized youth and adult sports leagues that form an important part of community life on the peninsula.

The Rockaway Peninsula's residential communities are diverse, ranging from affluent sections like Neponsit and Belle Harbor to working-class areas of Far Rockaway and the large public housing developments of Arverne and Edgemere. Rockaway Community Park serves all of these communities.

The peninsula's recovery from Hurricane Sandy has included investment in parks and recreation facilities as part of broader resilience and community development planning. New housing developments in the Arverne area have included commitments to public parkland.

Rockaway Community Park serves the inland recreation needs of a community defined by its relationship to the ocean, providing the athletic fields, courts, and playgrounds that support daily life beyond the beach.
