Bloomingdale Park

Bloomingdale Park is a 138.1-acre park in the Pleasant Plains and Rossville neighborhoods of southern Staten Island. The park is one of the larger green spaces on the island, providing athletic facilities and natural areas in the relatively rural southwestern section of the borough.

Southern Staten Island retains more of its rural and suburban character than any other part of New York City. The wide open spaces, wooded lots, and lower-density housing create an atmosphere more reminiscent of New Jersey or Long Island than of the boroughs across the harbor.

The park features baseball diamonds, soccer fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a playground, and open green areas. The athletic facilities serve organized youth and adult sports leagues from the surrounding communities of Pleasant Plains, Rossville, and Woodrow.

Bloomingdale Park's proximity to other large green spaces, including Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve and the undeveloped wetlands of the southwestern shore, places it within a corridor of open space that gives this part of Staten Island its distinctively green character.
