Wolfe's Pond Park

Wolfe's Pond Park is a 312-acre park in the Princes Bay section of southern Staten Island, one of the largest parks on the island. The park encompasses a freshwater pond, sandy beach, tidal marsh, maritime forest, and over a mile of Raritan Bay shoreline.

The park is named for Joel Wolfe, a colonial-era landowner whose property included the pond and surrounding area. The freshwater pond that bears his name provides habitat for turtles, fish, and waterfowl, while the surrounding forest supports populations of hawks, owls, and songbirds.

Wolfe's Pond Park's beach along Raritan Bay provides free ocean access at the southern end of Staten Island, with views across the bay to New Jersey. The beach is smaller and quieter than the eastern shore beaches, offering a more secluded waterfront experience.

The park includes athletic fields, basketball courts, a playground, picnic areas, and an extensive trail system through its wooded sections. The combination of beach, pond, forest, and athletic facilities makes Wolfe's Pond one of the most diverse recreation parks on the island.
