Givans Creek Woods

Givans Creek Woods is a five-acre nature preserve in the Throgs Neck/Schuylerville area of the southeastern Bronx. The woods protect a remnant of the coastal forest and wetland habitat that once characterized the shoreline of Long Island Sound in this part of the borough.

The preserve takes its name from Givans Creek, a small tidal waterway that connects to the broader network of creeks and marshes draining into Long Island Sound. These coastal waterways support fish, shorebirds, and native plant communities that have been largely eliminated from the developed shoreline.
