Playground 52

Playground 52 is a three-quarter-acre playground at East 174th Street and Vyse Avenue in the Crotona Park East section of the South Bronx. The playground's numerical designation reflects the older NYC Parks naming convention for facilities without a specific namesake.

Crotona Park East experienced devastating decline during the 1970s, when arson and abandonment destroyed much of the neighborhood's housing stock. The area has since been substantially rebuilt with affordable housing, but the scars of that era inform the community's ongoing advocacy for public space improvements.
