Shoelace Park

Shoelace Park is a 21-acre linear park following the Bronx River through the Williamsbridge and Wakefield neighborhoods of the northeastern Bronx. The park's name derives from its long, narrow shape along the river corridor, which resembles a shoelace threading through the urban fabric.

The park is part of the Bronx River Greenway, the developing network of trails and parks along the city's only freshwater river. Shoelace Park provides walking and cycling paths through a tree-lined river corridor that connects to larger parks to the north and south.

The Bronx River's restoration has been one of the most significant environmental success stories in New York City. Community organizations and government agencies have worked together to remove invasive species, stabilize stream banks, improve water quality, and create public access points along the river.

The park's linear design follows the natural course of the river, creating a green corridor through residential neighborhoods that would otherwise have limited park access. Benches, pathways, and river views make the park a pleasant walking route for neighborhood residents.
