Fresh Creek Park

Fresh Creek Park is an eight-acre park along Linden Boulevard near Hendrix Street in the East New York section of Brooklyn. The park takes its name from Fresh Creek, one of several tidal creeks that once threaded through the marshlands of southeastern Brooklyn before the area was developed.

Fresh Creek was part of the network of waterways connected to Jamaica Bay, the vast shallow bay that forms Brooklyn and Queens' southern boundary. As the area was developed for housing in the 20th century, most of these creeks were filled, channeled, or buried, but their names survive in local parks and street designations.

The park features athletic fields, basketball courts, a playground, and open green areas. It serves the East New York community, one of the most economically challenged neighborhoods in New York City, where public parks are essential resources for families who may lack access to private recreation facilities.
