McKinley Park

McKinley Park is an 8.25-acre park at Fort Hamilton Parkway and 73rd Street, near the border of Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights in southwestern Brooklyn. The park is named for William McKinley, the 25th President of the United States, who served from 1897 until his assassination in 1901.

McKinley's presidency coincided with the consolidation of Greater New York in 1898, when Brooklyn (then an independent city) merged with Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island to form the modern five-borough city. The park's naming reflects the era when Brooklyn's identity shifted from independent city to borough of New York.

The park features a playground, basketball courts, and open green areas serving the surrounding residential community.
