Greenwood Playground is a 3.39-acre playground in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood of Brooklyn, situated on Fort Hamilton Parkway near East 5th Street. The playground takes its name from the nearby Green-Wood Cemetery, one of the most significant historic cemeteries in the United States.

Green-Wood Cemetery, established in 1838, is a 478-acre National Historic Landmark that served as one of New York's most fashionable burial grounds during the Victorian era. The cemetery's rolling hills, elaborate monuments, and famous residents (including Boss Tweed, Leonard Bernstein, and Jean-Michel Basquiat) make it both a burial ground and one of Brooklyn's most beautiful green spaces.

The playground features modern play equipment, basketball courts, and seating areas serving the Windsor Terrace community. Windsor Terrace is a small, tight-knit neighborhood nestled between Prospect Park and Green-Wood Cemetery, with a residential character that feels more like a quiet village than a section of New York City.

The neighborhood has retained a strong Irish-American identity alongside its growing diversity, with local pubs, family-owned businesses, and a community spirit that resists the pace of gentrification affecting nearby Park Slope. The playground serves families who have chosen this quieter corner of Brooklyn for its small-town feel.

Greenwood Playground provides everyday recreation in a neighborhood blessed with proximity to some of Brooklyn's greatest green spaces. Between Prospect Park and Green-Wood Cemetery, Windsor Terrace residents have access to hundreds of acres of parkland, making this one of the greenest neighborhoods in the borough.
