Manhattan Beach Park

Manhattan Beach Park is a 42.94-acre beachfront park in the Manhattan Beach neighborhood of southeastern Brooklyn, along Oriental Boulevard at the entrance to Sheepshead Bay. The park provides ocean beach access, athletic facilities, and green space to one of Brooklyn's most established seaside residential communities.

Manhattan Beach was developed in the 1870s as an exclusive seaside resort by Austin Corbin, a railroad magnate who built the Manhattan Beach Hotel and the Oriental Hotel to attract wealthy vacationers. The resort era gave way to permanent residential development in the early 20th century, creating the stable neighborhood of single-family homes that exists today.

The park features a sandy beach, basketball courts, handball courts, a playground, and picnic areas. The beach, while smaller and quieter than the famous Coney Island beach to the west, offers a more intimate seaside experience favored by neighborhood residents.

Manhattan Beach has maintained a distinct residential character, with tree-lined streets, well-maintained homes, and a strong community identity.
