The Prospect Park Parade Ground is a 40-acre athletic complex adjacent to Prospect Park, the largest dedicated sports facility in Brooklyn. The grounds feature multiple baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a running track, and tennis courts.
The Parade Ground was established in 1867 as a military drilling ground for National Guard units and was incorporated into the Prospect Park system. Its flat terrain and large size made it ideal for organized sports.
The facility hosts youth leagues, adult recreational leagues, and pickup games representing dozens of sports and nationalities. On any given weekend, cricket, soccer, baseball, and softball games occur simultaneously across the grounds.
The Parade Ground's location at the southern edge of Prospect Park makes it the primary athletic facility for the neighborhoods of Flatbush, Kensington, and Windsor Terrace, some of the most diverse communities in Brooklyn.
