WNYC Transmitter Park is a waterfront park in Greenpoint named for the WNYC radio transmission towers that formerly occupied the site. The park provides stunning views of the Manhattan skyline across the East River.
The park features a recreational pier extending over the East River, an open lawn, a children's play area, and a restored wetland area that provides habitat for wildlife along the waterfront.
Greenpoint, Brooklyn's northernmost neighborhood, has a rich Polish-American heritage and a growing creative community. The park serves as a waterfront gathering space for this diverse neighborhood.
The transmission towers that gave the park its name powered New York Public Radio (WNYC) for decades before the station relocated its transmitters. The park preserves this broadcasting heritage in its name while transforming the site into public green space.
WNYC Transmitter Park is part of the Brooklyn Greenway, a planned network of waterfront parks and bike paths that will eventually provide continuous access along Brooklyn's entire waterfront.
