Hell's Kitchen Park

Hell's Kitchen Park is a neighborhood park on the east side of Tenth Avenue between West 47th and 48th Streets, opened in 2010 on the site of a former parking lot. The park was one of the first new public green spaces created in Hell's Kitchen in decades, addressing a long-standing deficit of parkland in the neighborhood.

The park's design incorporates sustainable features including a rain garden that captures stormwater runoff, native plantings that require minimal irrigation, and permeable paving materials. These elements reflect the city's growing emphasis on green infrastructure and environmental performance in new park construction.

Hell's Kitchen, also known as Clinton, experienced a dramatic transformation in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, evolving from a rough industrial neighborhood into a residential and entertainment district. The creation of new parks like this one has been part of a broader effort to improve quality of life as the neighborhood densifies.
