Fort Hill Park

Fort Hill Park is a 0.84-acre hilltop park in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island's North Shore, occupying an elevated site that was fortified during the Revolutionary War to defend the approaches to New York Harbor.

The hill's strategic position, overlooking the Kill Van Kull and the Narrows, made it a natural defensive position. During the Revolution, both American and British forces recognized the site's value for commanding the waterways that controlled access to the harbor.

St. George is the civic center of Staten Island, home to Borough Hall, the Staten Island Ferry terminal, and the St. George Theatre. The neighborhood has been the focus of revitalization efforts aimed at creating a more vibrant downtown for the borough.
