Lemon Creek Park

Lemon Creek Park is a 103-acre waterfront park in the Princes Bay section of southern Staten Island, stretching from Hylan Boulevard to the shores of Princes Bay, part of Raritan Bay. The park encompasses tidal marshes, maritime forest, freshwater wetlands, and a sand beach.

Lemon Creek, the tidal waterway that gives the park its name, flows through the property and provides habitat for horseshoe crabs, which spawn on the park's shoreline each spring. The horseshoe crab spawning event, which attracts migratory shorebirds that feed on the eggs, is one of the most significant wildlife spectacles in the New York area.

The park's natural areas support a diversity of habitats from upland forest to intertidal mudflat, creating ecological variety that is rare within the city limits. The salt marshes along Raritan Bay provide essential nursery habitat for commercially important fish species.
