Hunts Point Riverside Park

Hunts Point Riverside Park is a small waterfront park along the Bronx River in Hunts Point, created through community advocacy and environmental justice activism. The park provides direct access to the Bronx River in a neighborhood that was previously walled off from its waterways by industrial uses.

The park was developed through the work of the Hunts Point community and organizations including The Point CDC and Sustainable South Bronx, who argued that the neighborhood's residents deserved the same waterfront access enjoyed by wealthier communities throughout the city.

Hunts Point Riverside Park features a waterfront esplanade, a kayak and canoe launch, a playground, and native plantings along the river's edge. The park connects to the broader Bronx River Greenway, which aims to create a continuous trail along the river from Westchester County to the East River.

The kayak launch at the park provides one of the few public access points to the Bronx River, allowing community members and visitors to paddle along the city's only freshwater river.
