Pier 4 Beach is a man-made sandy beach within Brooklyn Bridge Park, providing the only beach experience in downtown Brooklyn and one of the few swim-accessible urban beaches in New York City's harbor.

The beach was created from imported sand placed along the park's waterfront, transforming a former shipping pier into a miniature seaside destination with views of Lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and Governors Island.

Swimming at Pier 4 Beach places swimmers in the East River with the Manhattan skyline directly in front of them, one of the most extraordinary swimming experiences available anywhere in the world.

The beach reflects Brooklyn Bridge Park's philosophy of creating diverse recreational experiences along the waterfront, from playgrounds and sports facilities to picnic areas and this unique urban beach.

Pier 4 Beach demonstrates that even in the densest urban environment, it is possible to create a genuine beach experience, placing swimmers in the water beneath the Brooklyn Bridge with the skyline of Manhattan rising before them.
