Coney Island Steeplechase Pier

Steeplechase Pier extends 1,100 feet into the Atlantic Ocean from the Coney Island boardwalk, the longest pier in Brooklyn and one of the few places in the city where visitors can walk far out over the open ocean.

The pier is named for Steeplechase Park, the legendary Coney Island amusement park that operated from 1897 to 1964. The park's signature ride, the Steeplechase Horses, carried riders on mechanical horses along an undulating track at thrilling speeds.

The pier provides fishing access, ocean views, and a perspective on the Coney Island shoreline that is unavailable from the boardwalk. From the pier's end, the Parachute Jump, the Wonder Wheel, and the Cyclone roller coaster are visible against the sky.

Coney Island's amusement heritage, stretching back to the 1880s, created the modern concept of the amusement park and the seaside resort. The pier connects today's visitors to that legacy of popular entertainment and oceanic wonder.
