Friends Field Park

Friends Field is a large community park in southern Brooklyn, bounded by Avenue L, East 4th Street, McDonald Avenue, and Avenue M. Sitting near the Kensington and Midwood borders, the park lies in the shadow of the elevated F train (the IND Culver Line) and beside Washington Cemetery, a prominent local landmark.

The park is one of the larger recreation spaces in this part of Brooklyn, anchored by ball fields that have hosted generations of neighborhood baseball and softball. Its open playing surface makes it a hub for organized league play as well as informal pickup games.

Friends Field also includes a children's playground, open recreation areas, and shaded seating beneath mature trees. NYC Parks has invested in upgrades to the playground and grounds in recent years, reflecting the park's importance to the surrounding residential community.

The neighborhoods around the park are residential and ethnically diverse, with Italian, Jewish, and Asian families among the longtime and newer residents. The elevated F train along McDonald Avenue connects the area to the rest of Brooklyn and to Manhattan.

Friends Field provides essential green and recreation space in a densely settled corner of southern Brooklyn, serving the families, athletes, and dog walkers who rely on it as the neighborhood's primary outdoor gathering place.
