Pier 6 Playground at Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of the most popular and inventive playgrounds in New York City, featuring water play areas, sand pits, swing valley, slide mountain, and a sandbox village designed for children of all ages.
The playground occupies the southern end of Brooklyn Bridge Park at the Atlantic Avenue entrance, making it one of the first features visitors encounter when entering the park from the south.
Brooklyn Bridge Park's playgrounds were designed by landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh to integrate play into the park's waterfront landscape. Pier 6 Playground is the largest and most diverse of the park's play areas.
The playground's water features, including jets, sprinklers, and a water channel, make it one of the most popular summer destinations for Brooklyn families. The sand areas and climbing structures provide year-round play opportunities.
Pier 6 Playground demonstrates how modern playground design can create spaces that are both visually beautiful and functionally exciting, serving as a model for urban play spaces worldwide.
