The Prospect Park Bandshell is the home of Celebrate Brooklyn!, one of the longest-running free outdoor performing arts festivals in New York City, presenting music, film, dance, and spoken word performances each summer since 1979.
The bandshell's summer concert series has hosted performers ranging from the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Patti Smith, from Afrobeat legends to Brooklyn Philharmonic premieres. The free admission policy makes world-class performances accessible to all.
The bandshell sits near the western edge of Prospect Park, accessible from the Prospect Park West entrance. The sloping lawn in front of the stage accommodates thousands of concertgoers who bring blankets, picnics, and lawn chairs.
Celebrate Brooklyn! is supported by the Prospect Park Alliance, the nonprofit organization that partners with NYC Parks to maintain and program the park. The festival is a cornerstone of Brooklyn's summer cultural calendar.
The Prospect Park Bandshell represents the best of New York's tradition of free public culture, providing professional-quality performances in a magnificent park setting to anyone who shows up.
