The Picnic House sits at the western edge of the Long Meadow, the longest unbroken meadow in any American urban park. The building's terrace provides views across the full sweep of the meadow toward the wooded slopes of Prospect Park's interior.
The building was constructed in 1927 and renovated by the Prospect Park Alliance, which manages the park in partnership with NYC Parks. The Alliance's restoration efforts have returned the park's buildings and landscapes to their original grandeur.
The Picnic House is available for private events and community gatherings, making Prospect Park one of the most popular venues for outdoor weddings in Brooklyn. The combination of the historic building, the meadow, and the park's landscape creates an incomparable setting.
