767 Fifth Avenue, the General Motors Building, features one of the most visited POPS in New York City: the sunken plaza on Fifth Avenue that houses the iconic Apple Store glass cube, one of the most photographed retail entrances in the world.

The Apple Store at 767 Fifth Avenue, accessed via a glass staircase descending from the plaza into a subterranean retail space, has been one of the most successful stores in history since its opening in 2006. The glass cube entrance, redesigned in 2019, is visible from blocks away.

The GM Building's plaza sits directly across Fifth Avenue from the Plaza Hotel and the southeastern corner of Central Park, creating one of the most visually spectacular settings for any public space in the city.

The plaza serves as a gathering point for the enormous tourist population that circulates between Central Park, the Plaza Hotel, Bergdorf Goodman, and the Fifth Avenue retail corridor. The Apple Store's 24-hour operation means the plaza sees activity around the clock.

This POPS is one of the most commercially successful public spaces in the world, where the incentive zoning program's requirement for public access has produced a plaza that generates billions in retail revenue while serving as one of Midtown's most vibrant gathering places.
