Captain Tilly Park

Captain Tilly Park is a 9.16-acre park in the Jamaica Hills section of Queens, near Highland Avenue and 164th Street. The park is named for Captain George H. Tilly, a member of a prominent local Jamaica family who was killed in action in the Philippines in 1899 during the Spanish-American War era, and provides recreation space in one of Queens' hillier residential neighborhoods.

Jamaica Hills occupies elevated terrain near the Queens-Nassau border, with tree-lined streets and a mix of single-family homes and apartment buildings. The neighborhood's hilly topography distinguishes it from the flatter areas of central Queens and provides some parcels with views of the surrounding area.
