John Golden Park

John Golden Park is a 17-acre park in the Bayside section of northeastern Queens, adjoining Crocheron Park near Little Neck Bay. Named for the Broadway producer John Golden, it occupies his former Bayside estate, which he left to the city for the recreation of the community's young people.

John Golden (1874-1955), known as 'Mr. Bayside,' was the dean of Broadway producers, responsible for more than 150 plays and musicals. He lived on the Bayside estate that became the park, and upon his death he left the property to New York City; the park was dedicated in 1965.

The park features baseball diamonds, a playground, basketball courts, and open green areas, with curving paths that connect to those of neighboring Crocheron Park. Together the two parks form one of the larger stretches of green space in northeastern Queens.

Bayside is a residential neighborhood of single-family homes and tree-lined streets near the Little Neck Bay waterfront. The area retains a suburban, settled character, and its parks are central to the community's identity.

John Golden Park preserves the legacy of a Broadway impresario who wanted his Bayside home to remain a place of recreation, connecting the neighborhood's residents to green space on the grounds of one of its most famous former estates.
