Kissena Corridor Park is a linear green space built on a former Long Island Rail Road right-of-way, connecting Queens Botanical Garden to Kissena Park through the residential neighborhoods of Flushing and Fresh Meadows.
The corridor transforms an abandoned railroad bed into a continuous pedestrian and cycling path, creating a green link between several of Queens' most important parks and natural areas.
The conversion of the rail corridor to parkland is part of a broader pattern of adaptive reuse of transportation infrastructure for recreation, similar to Manhattan's High Line and other rail-to-trail conversions across the country.
