Udalls Cove Park Preserve is a 30-acre salt marsh and nature preserve on the shores of Little Neck Bay in northeastern Queens, protecting one of the finest remaining tidal wetland ecosystems in the borough.
The preserve's salt marshes, mudflats, and maritime forests provide habitat for osprey, great blue herons, diamondback terrapins, and horseshoe crabs. The area is a critical stop for migratory shorebirds along the Atlantic Flyway.
The Udalls Cove Preservation Committee, a local nonprofit, has managed the preserve since the 1980s, maintaining trails, organizing cleanups, and providing environmental education for the surrounding communities.
Douglaston and Little Neck, the neighborhoods bordering the preserve, are among the most suburban-feeling communities in Queens, with detached houses, tree-lined streets, and a village character that feels far removed from the urban core.
Udalls Cove Park Preserve provides northeastern Queens with access to a tidal wetland ecosystem that has been preserved through decades of community advocacy and stewardship.
