Aesop Park

Aesop Park is a small neighborhood green space at the southern tip of Staten Island in the Tottenville neighborhood, one of the most remote and southerly points in New York City.

Tottenville occupies the southern tip of Staten Island and is farther south than parts of northern New Jersey. The neighborhood's geographic isolation gives it a small-town character that feels far from the urban intensity of Manhattan.

The Conference House, a 1680 stone manor house at the tip of Tottenville, was the site of the only peace conference of the American Revolution, when Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Edward Rutledge met with British Admiral Lord Howe in September 1776.

Tottenville's remote location at the southern extreme of New York State's most populous city creates one of the most fascinating geographic contrasts: a quiet village at the southern end of the Staten Island Railway, reached from Manhattan by the ferry and a long ride down the island.
