1114 Sixth Avenue is a Privately Owned Public Space along the Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan, part of the continuous corridor of POPS that line this major north-south avenue through the commercial core of the city.

The Sixth Avenue POPS corridor extends from the upper 40s through the mid-50s, with nearly every major office building along the avenue providing some form of public space as part of its zoning agreement. Together, these spaces create a significant public amenity.

This section of Sixth Avenue is near the Diamond District on 47th Street, the theater district along Broadway, and the luxury retail corridor of Fifth Avenue. The POPS serves the diverse population that works in and visits this part of Midtown.

The consistent provision of outdoor plazas along Sixth Avenue reflects the era of their construction, primarily the 1960s and 1970s, when the incentive zoning program was actively encouraging developers to include public spaces in their projects.

This POPS is part of a generation of Midtown plazas that, while sometimes criticized for their sterile design, collectively provide irreplaceable outdoor space in the most densely built part of Manhattan.
