130 Liberty Street is a Privately Owned Public Space in the World Trade Center area of the Financial District. The building, formerly known as the Deutsche Bank Building, was severely damaged on September 11, 2001, and the site has been redeveloped with new construction.
The World Trade Center area has been comprehensively rebuilt since 2001, with One World Trade Center (the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere), the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, the Oculus transit hub, and several new office towers transforming the district.
The POPS at this address serves the rebuilt district's worker and visitor population. The 9/11 Memorial, with its two reflecting pools set in the footprints of the original towers, draws millions of visitors annually to the surrounding blocks.
