200 East 89th Street is a Privately Owned Public Space in the northern Yorkville section of the Upper East Side, near the 86th Street commercial corridor and the Gracie Mansion area.

Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the Mayor of New York City, is located in Carl Schurz Park on East End Avenue at 88th Street, a short walk east of this address. The mansion, built in 1799, has served as the mayoral residence since 1942.

Carl Schurz Park, stretching along the East River from 84th to 90th Streets, is the primary green space for the northern Yorkville neighborhood. The park's John Finley Walk along the river provides stunning views of the Hell Gate, the Triborough Bridge, and the confluence of the East and Harlem Rivers.

The POPS serves the residential community of upper Yorkville, a neighborhood that has maintained a strong family-oriented character despite the gentrification that has transformed much of the Upper East Side.

This outdoor plaza provides public space near the mayoral residence and one of the Upper East Side's most beautiful waterfront parks.
