499 Park Avenue

499 Park Avenue is a Privately Owned Public Space at the northern end of the Park Avenue corporate corridor, where the avenue transitions from Midtown office towers to Upper East Side residential buildings.

Park Avenue at 59th Street marks one of Manhattan's most significant architectural transitions. South of 59th Street, the avenue is lined with corporate headquarters; north of it, the buildings are predominantly luxury residential, with doormen, canopied entrances, and the planted median continuing into the Upper East Side.

The nearby Argosy Book Store at 116 East 59th Street, one of the last great independent antiquarian bookshops in Manhattan, has been a Midtown institution since 1925. The store's survival amid luxury retail is a testament to the neighborhood's cultural depth.
