Captain Jacob Joseph Playground is a small neighborhood park on the boundary between the Lower East Side and Chinatown, named for a local civic figure.
The playground sits at the intersection of two of Manhattan's most historic immigrant communities: the Jewish Lower East Side and the Chinese neighborhood of Chinatown. The blending of these cultures is visible in the surrounding streetscape.
