Cherry Walk at Riverside Park

Cherry Walk is a waterfront promenade in the northern section of Riverside Park lined with hundreds of cherry trees that bloom in spectacular fashion each spring, creating a tunnel of pink blossoms along the Hudson River.

The cherry trees were planted as part of Riverside Park's ongoing improvement program, and their annual spring bloom has become one of the most anticipated natural events on the Upper West Side. The peak bloom typically occurs in late March to mid-April.

The walk provides a continuous waterfront path along the Hudson River through the Morningside Heights and Manhattanville neighborhoods, areas associated with Columbia University, Grant's Tomb, and the historic Harlem riverfront.

Grant's Tomb (the General Grant National Memorial), the largest mausoleum in North America, overlooks Cherry Walk from its hilltop perch in Riverside Park at 122nd Street. The tomb contains the remains of President Ulysses S. Grant and his wife Julia.

Cherry Walk provides one of the most beautiful seasonal experiences in Manhattan, a riverfront promenade where the explosion of cherry blossoms each spring transforms the industrial Hudson waterfront into a scene worthy of Kyoto.
