Coleman Playground

Coleman Playground occupies about 2.6 acres in the Two Bridges neighborhood of Lower Manhattan, bounded by Cherry, Pike, and Monroe Streets. The playground is one of the larger recreation spaces in a neighborhood characterized by dense public housing developments and limited open space.

The Two Bridges neighborhood, named for its location between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges, has been home to successive waves of immigrant communities. Today it is home to a large Chinese-American population alongside Latino and other communities, and the playground reflects this diversity in its daily users.
