Financial Square at 32 Old Slip is a Privately Owned Public Space in the Financial District, providing a substantial outdoor plaza on one of Lower Manhattan's most historically evocative streets.

Old Slip was once an actual ship's slip, an indentation in the East River shoreline where vessels could dock. The slip was filled in during the 18th century as Manhattan's shoreline was extended eastward through landfill, but the street name preserves the maritime heritage.

The Financial Square building is one of the larger office towers in the eastern Financial District, and its plaza is among the more spacious POPS in Lower Manhattan. The plaza serves the building's office population and the surrounding residential community.

The First Precinct of the NYPD, the oldest police precinct in New York City, is located on Old Slip nearby. The precinct has served Lower Manhattan since the establishment of the city's professional police force in 1845.

This plaza provides significant public outdoor space on a street whose name records the maritime origins of the Financial District, when ships docked where office workers now eat their lunches.
