City Island Park is a neighborhood green space on City Island, a one-mile-long island in Long Island Sound that is one of the most unusual communities in New York City, with a New England fishing village character unlike anywhere else in the five boroughs.
City Island has a maritime heritage stretching back to the 17th century, with boatyards, yacht clubs, and seafood restaurants lining its single main street. The island was a major sailmaking and yacht-building center in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
