South Bronx Greenway is a developing waterfront trail connecting the neighborhoods of Mott Haven, Port Morris, and Hunts Point to the Harlem River and East River shoreline, reclaiming industrial waterfront for public recreation.
The greenway, when completed, will provide continuous waterfront access through the most historically underserved communities in the Bronx, neighborhoods that were cut off from their waterfront by highways, rail yards, and industrial facilities for decades.
The project builds on the success of individual parks like Barretto Point Park, Hunts Point Riverside Park, and Randall's Island, connecting them into a continuous system that provides the South Bronx with the waterfront access it has been denied.
The South Bronx's waterfront revitalization is driven by community organizations that have spent decades advocating for environmental justice, public access, and the recognition that waterfront parks are not luxuries but essential infrastructure for healthy communities.
